What is it?

Income protection is insurance for your income or salary. If you are diagnosed with a listed illness, Critical Illness Income from Bidvest Life boosts your Temporary Income Protection benefit by an extra 30% and pays out for up to 12 months.

How does it work?

If you have Temporary Income Protection from Bidvest Life, you can add Critical Illness Income. If you are diagnosed with a listed illness, we will pay out 130% of the sum of your insured monthly income for up to 12 months. 

Why you need it

Receiving monthly payments, whether you work or not, gives you the peace of mind to focus on your recovery and recuperation. The extra 30% pay-out is there to assist with the extra monthly costs that often arise due to lifestyle changes and the cost of living with a serious illness.

How much does it cost?

You can insure as little as R1000 of your income starting from just R100 per month.

What can you claim for?

A few examples include but are not limited to cancer, stroke, heart attack, coronary artery bypass graft, heart disease, Motor neuron disease, Parkinson’s diseases and physical impairments such as amputations.

What you need to know when applying

1) Prerequisites
You need to have Temporary Income Protection from Bidvest Life so that you can add on Critical Illness Income.

2) Claim Assessments
Critical Illness Income claims are assessed only once, and you will receive a guaranteed income stream for the remainder of the payment period, even if you continue to work and receive an income.

Additional Benefits

1) CI Assist is automatically included with Critical Illness Income and includes a suite of benefits to the value of R50 000, designed to help you and your family with the emotional toll and daily stresses of coping with a critical illness.
